Toyota is all set to foray into mini car segment through its Etios that is expected to be launched in India by December 2010.Toyota Kirloskar Motors manufactures sedan models like Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Camry along with the SUV models like Toyota Fortuner and Land Cruiser Prado. The new car comes as a tactical move to generate higher sales and expand market presence in India.
"The final price will be decided later. While the hatchback will compete with Maruti Suzuki's Swift, Hyundai's i20 petrol and Volkswagen's Polo, the sedan version will be positioned along Maruti's DZire and Tata's Manza,” said Sandeep Singh in reply to the competition in the market.
Toyota Etios is supposed to be launched as a 1.2L hatchback petrol model and then, the other variants will come out later.
The Etios will be priced Rs. 4 lakh - Rs. 6.75 lakh in India.
